Recruiting is open for NIEHS deputy director

Do you have a vision for improving environmental health science research? Are you a first-rate scientific leader seeking a career at one of the preeminent biomedical research institutes in the nation and the world?

NIEHS provides national and global leadership for innovative research that improves public health by preventing disease and disability associated with environmental influences. The deputy director will work closely with Director Rich Woychik, Ph.D., to provide a national focus for the federal effort to advance knowledge and the ongoing discovery of how the environment affects human health.

We are looking for applicants with a commitment to scientific excellence and the energy, enthusiasm, and innovative thinking necessary to lead within a dynamic and diverse organization. Applicants must possess an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. They must have senior-level research experience and knowledge of research programs, including the importance of high standards for rigor and reproducibility.

The incumbent must have experience and demonstrated ability in the administration and management of a major national research program. The incumbent must possess in-depth knowledge and personal research experience in one or more of the NIEHS research areas.

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with experience and accomplishments, and full federal benefits, including leave, health and life insurance, retirement, and a savings plan equivalent to 401K will be provided.
